Our History

NDT systems play an important role in our lives. The bridge you cross daily needs to be checked to make sure that the concrete and steel are still in good shape. Car tires and train wheels have to be checked before they leave the factory to make sure they do not have any weak spots. Miles of oil and gas pipelines must be inspected to ensure their integrity while they are exposed to harsh operating environments.

At GE Inspection Technologies, we are proud to continue the long legacy of leadership and innovation we inherit as a member of the GE family of companies. Founded by Thomas Edison in 1878 as the Edison Electric Co., GE is recognized worldwide for excellence, innovation, and imagination. Its rich heritage includes the development of non-destructive inspection technology and equipment to support the critical testing needs of its own businesses, such as GE Aircraft Engines and GE Medical Systems. In recent years, GE has purchased companies to further expand its NDT capabilities.

These companies include leading names like Agfa NDT, Everest VIT, Hocking NDT, Krautkramer, and Seifert. GE's global resources, including its intellectual capital, extensive R&D, and financial strength are ours to draw upon and share with our customers.

Our focus at GE Inspection Technologies covers a broad range of industries and applications so that whatever the NDT need, ranging from simple to highly complex, we are the world's proven, reliable resource. We are setting best practices today and constantly exploring the next generation of NDT solutions, all in an effort to keep our customers at the front edge of quality, safety, and productivity.
