Powerful, Full-Featured X-Ray Generator ISOVOLT Titan Premiers from GE Inspection Technologies

LAS VEGAS, November, 2004

GE Inspection Technologies now brings to market a new stationary X-ray generator series that provides superior performance levels, precise reproducibility and a high dose rate output with extremely low ripple.

Single phase & three phase power supply upon customers needs The Seifert ISOVOLT Titan premiers as a global, single source solution for radiographic and radioscopic materials inspection worldwide by offering single and three phase power supply to meet the specific customers needs.

The ISOVOLT Titan is an easy system to integrate, with flexible and universal world power options in single and three-phase.

X-ray Capabilities The stable and accurate unit provides fast support and service, with an intelligent X-ray tube warm-up capability that allows the tubes to reach desired operating values more quickly to ensure a long, operational life.

A unique built-in, real-time clock tracks the operating history and calculates appropriate warm-up cycle, reflecting idle time and previous operational values. The Titan can serve as the core unit of any X-ray solution, thus making it a vital and important tool for any utilization.

The unit has a very fast rise time, and operates at superior stability due to its reliable and quality construction. The design of the Titan provides full on-site maintainability for local and remote diagnostics, with the component stackable to minimize required floor space.

The control module is designed for ease of operation, with input of parameters in 10 languages entered by keypad, with set and actual values displayed on a clear-text LCD readout. Upon shutdown, previous operation parameters are stored and recalled automatically upon next switch-on.

The cooling water/oil temperature and flow rate of the Titan are constantly monitored to ensure protection of the X-ray tube. Upon shut-down, the cooler will automatically continue for a set time to prevent heat accumulation and to extend X-ray tube life.

Modes of Operation The Titan can be utilized in three different modes of operation. Constant Current Mode operates the X-ray tube at the values preset for voltage, current and necessary exposure time. Constant Wattage Mode operates the X-ray tube at the values preset for voltage and necessary exposure time. The tube current is automatically set at the maximum value that the tube output permits with a given high voltage.

Programmed Mode constitutes a considerable aid in frequently recurring inspection tasks. The possibility of wrong entries is reduced to a minimum, as the operator calls up all X-ray parameters via a program number, with each program setting the parameters for tube voltage. Tube current, exposure time, focal spot size and tube type are also stored by number.

Integration
Alternatively the HS Series can be integrated into any X-ray inspection system control by remote PC interface with optional WINHS remote control program. The generator features rugged oil-insulated, high-voltage components, with SMD technology and advanced IGBT power electronics, all in a rugged and compact design.

A newly designed user interface leads to higher operation efficiency and total field serviceability, with remote operation up to 300 feet. Systems integration is possible through the standard RS 232C interface, or optional RS442, RS 485 or Profibus EN 50170 interface.

Safety and Protection
Comprehensive safety devices in the Titan are designed to meet international standards. The unit is ISO 9000 QM system compatible and CE compliant, and supports a complete selection of rugged metal-ceramic X-ray tubes.

An automatic switch-off occurs upon X-ray On Lamp failure. Dual high voltage contactors with redundancy monitoring Emergency-Stop lock down push buttons are also included.

Two independent external safety circuits for door interlock, a radiation safety interlock (DIN 54113) and primary interlock (US FCR 1020.40) are also engineered to maximize user safety. Adjustable pre-warning time capabilities and a protective key switch inhibiting unauthorized operation are also included.
