GE Inspection Technologies To Show Two New Products At Farnborough
Huerth, Germany – July 17th, 2006 – GE Inspection Technologies will be showing two new products from two separate inspection modalities on the GE Aviation stand, B7 in Hall 4, at the Farnborough International Air Show, which takes place from the 17th – 23rd July. Technical personnel from the company will also be available throughout the week to explain the features and benefits of GE’s wide range of ultrasonic, eddy current, radiographic and RVI inspection products and systems and advise on their application throughout the aerospace sector.
The Farnborough Show will see the launch of GE’s Phasor XS, which offers ultrasonic phased array capability within a conventional, portable ultrasonic flaw detector. Inspection images, in phased array mode, are presented as full-colour, sector B-scans on the instrument’s high resolution TFT screen, providing comprehensive data in real time, while A-scans can be displayed simultaneously with the sector image to allow instant and reliable defect sizing. All data can be stored on a removable SD card for off-line analysis and archiving.
With its familiar operating platform, the new battery-powered Phasor XS brings phased array technology to all parts of the aerospace process chain, from airframe and airframe components’ manufacturing to routine and non-routine airframe inspections, that are part of aircraft Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) activities.
Also on show for the first time at Farnborough is the versatile Everest XLG3 Videoborescope, which allows fast and accurate identification of signs of wear or damage in aircraft engines and structures. Sharp, high quality images, which can be viewed directly on a high resolution LCD screen, can also be stored in real time on an on-board DVD/CD drive, downloaded by means of flash drives or transferred to remote sites by means of the internet. Consequently, digital data can be transmitted in real time direct from the tarmac to quality control and maintenance teams to allow fast and reliable diagnosis as the basis for accurate, critical decisions.
The GE stand at the Farnborough Show will also provide an opportunity for aerospace professional to learn about the various inspection solutions that GE offers to the aerospace sector. Because of its extensive portfolio of equipment and technology serving four inspection modalities, GE is uniquely placed to address any inspection task met in aviation, from production line tasks involving the inspection of new materials manufactured by new techniques, to keeping pace with the maintenance demands of a new generation of aircraft, while meeting the maintenance requirements of aging aircraft fleets.
