GE Inspection Technologies invests in new facility in New York State
Skaneateles Falls, NY – August 4, 2006 – GE Inspection Technologies, designer and manufacturer of technology-driven inspections solutions, announces today that it plans to construct a 60,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Skaneateles Falls, NY, pending environmental approvals. GE will invest more than six million dollars in building, furniture and fixtures. The project is expected to create 50 new high-tech jobs and retain 153 existing jobs.
GE Inspection Technologies chose to build the new facility in Skaneateles Falls because it will have a low impact on employees who work in the existing Skaneateles Falls facility, it is an attractive destination town and the company will maintain its access to the Syracuse recruiting pool for new talent.
“We are committed to constructing our new facility in New York,” said Dick Mitchell, GE Inspection Technologies Operations Manager for the Skaneateles site. “Skaneateles Falls is an attractive destination town and is in close proximity to the talented Syracuse recruiting pool, from which we anticipate adding 50 new jobs.”
In consideration of its commitment to New York State, GE Inspection Technologies is eligible to apply to Empire State Development for a Capital Grant of up to $500,000 to be used toward the purchase of furniture fixtures and equipment.
"This is a great opportunity for Central New York workers," said Rep. Jim Walsh (NY-25). “GE has made a significant investment in our community, demonstrating that our region - with the strength of its workforce - can compete in this global economy. I look forward to continue working to make this business venture a success."
